Most helpful customer reviews 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Cool Enclosure, but very Noisy! By sirlansa I've had this enclosure running a Hitachi 2TB drive for two weeks now. The drive is extremely cool -- you'd never know there was a HDD inside! But this is due to a really noisy fan. The fan really pulls the air through, but resonates with the case. I have the enclosure resting on a piece of foam on the carpet, but the noise still drives us nuts. I have to hold the case in my hand to get it to quiet down. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Does not work with Blu-ray drives, noisy. By Ruined This enclosure has three issues. The primary issue is that it apparently does not work with Blu-ray drives as advertised. My Blu-ray drive is an LG GGC-H20L and though the enclosure is detected, the drive itself goes unrecognized when this enclosure is plugged in. A previous review also mentions a Blu-ray burner not working. Some USB 3.0 chipsets do not work with Blu-ray, and my guess is that this is one of them despite the specs advertised. Secondly, it is noisy. However, this can be fixed in two ways; first, you can simply unscrew the fan and buy/install rubber O rings between the screws and the enclosure. Or, if you are using an optical drive you may even be able to unplug the fan if you don't need the cooling. The fan itself is not loud, just without the O rings installed it reverberates the aluminum enclosure. Third, it isn't that steady vertically as there is no stand, and there are no rubber feet (again, you could install them yourself) so it slides around even horizontally. Overall, this package seems to have been slapped together with little regard for the end user experience. It is unfortunate that a Blu-ray enclosure that supports USB 3.0 is so hard to find, but this enclosure is another miss for said purpose even if you are comfortable modifying the unit for its shortcomings. Mess of an NOISY enclosure By treMMor On the plus side it's USB 3.0 and 5.25" but that's where the plusses end. I'd advise a pass on this cheap non-bargain because it didn't work for me correctly with the BluRay burner I installed in it, but honestly even if it had worked perfectly it still would have been returned because this thing is extremely noisy. The fan is a little loud on it's own but when installed on the cheap chassis (which doesn't have rubber/padded feet or anything to dampen vibration) and that little fan will vibrate the whole unit so much that the sound produced from the unit as a whole is completely unacceptable (and I'm not that sensitive to noisy peripherals and I think this is the first time I've had a serious noise issue with any peripheral). This was my first experience having to return a product bought from Amazon and I'm pleased to say that the return process was pretty painless. See all 6 customer reviews...
